Rurrenabaque and Trinidad. Rurrenabaque is a small town located a half hour flight from La Paz and is the gateway to both the Madidi National Park, usually referred to simply as "the jungle" and the Santa Rosa National Park, which is usually called "pampas". Along with the salt flats, a tour of Amazon will undoubtedly be the highlight of your trip to Bolivia, it is why we have decided to offer a variety of options with the best operators in the area. We offer tours for all budgets and durations, from one day to six.
After meeting up with your guide in Rurrenabaque and loading up your gear on a 4x4 jeep you will travel throughout the morning until we reach the Caracoles Lodge on the shores of the Yacuma river. Here you will have lunch before departing along the river in a motorized canoe to observe the abundant wildlife in the area. Caimans, alligators, different species of monkey, capybaras, turtles and many many types of birds can all be spotted during this excursion. The day is relaxing, mostly spent in the boat and you are sure to see lots of animals.
This morning the group will travel by boat to an area where a lot of squirrel monkeys can be observed. Along the way your guide will also point out other wildlife from the boat. At lunch time we return to the lodge for a tasty meal at Caracoles lodge and have some time to relax in a hammock. After lunch the group decide if they go for another walk in the wetlands, goes searching for different species of monkeys or go fishing.
Today the group will explore the pampas area on horseback, a relaxing and different way to get into the natural surroundings and get close with the wildlife.
