Bolivia extreme geography of deserts, mountains, canyons. It is the most isolated country of America, Our walk includes the slope of the Andes following a pre-Columbian road, known as the subtropical Yungas region. The presence of their people, the beauty of its wildlife and its extraordinary landscapes and unique from snow to rainforest of the Yungas, make this sector one of the most attractive of Bolivia.

Day 1

La Paz - Sorata

Starting from La Paz in vehicle. Going forward, the majestic highlands always wavy. The road goes down gently to join with the provincial route Sorata. Beautiful views of the mountains to reach the village of Sorata (2700 MS), charming small population (4 hours). We will stay at a hotel near the square. (Dinner not included).

Day 2

Sorata- Ancoma - Trek Cocoyo

Leaving early in vehicle on a mountain road to the village of Ancoma. Meeting with mulero team. Start of climb between ravines and Andean crops. amazing spectacle view to imposing hill background Illampu. To the sides, a succession of splendid snowy hills. The road to Cocoyo continued to fall. Camp (3 hours).

Day 3

Trek Cocoyo - Chajolpaya

Based on Cocoyo on a path that will take us to the summit of Sarani (4600 Ms). After enjoying lunch, we are ready to go down into the mountains of Chiarhoco around Chajolpaya. Camp (4300 meters - 5 hours).

Day 4

Trek Chajolpaya - Negruni

Starting from the Chajolpaya. Take road begins a gentle but steady ascent towards the Negruni (4980 Ms). The road runs along an icy water that goes down to the valley Negruni. The campsite is 4300 meters (5 hours).

Day 5

Trek Negruni - Palca/Putu Putuni

Less sportsman day following the sides of the mountains of Ch'iyar Juqhu. The entire branch of the Royal cordillera is observed. The way down is interesting by endless streams flowing down from the mountains dragging in its waters the thaw of the mountains. Passing through the village of Palca, we set up camp a little above near Putu Putuni. (4/5 hours walk, MS 4430).

Day 6

Trek Putu Putuni - Jancholacaya

The day hike takes place in the mountains of Chacocamani. In the morning we pass Huaraco (4850 ms) and then descend to the village of Hankolacaya (4200 Ms). Camp near the river (4550 ms, 5 hours).

Day 7

Trek Janckholacaya - Laguna Kotia - La Paz

Changing spending side step Mullu (4750 Ms) on a (very little used) wagon road. From the highest point we can appreciate a show of several glaciers and mountains which are the Janquyu (5512 ms), Mulu Apacheta (5368 ms). In the afternoon we descend to several lagoons and in particular the Kotia lagoon where we set up camp. (MS 4420, 5 hours) Reasteblecimiento in fresh food for our vehicle.

Day 8

Trek Kotia - Quebrador

Morning to rest and continue walking on a road gently towards the Andean foothills. Later, you go left Lake Titicaca. The road goes down zigzagging to reach Quebrador near the Ajwani (3 hours) lagoon. Camp.



Day 9

Quebrador - Lagoon Ajwani - Sistaña - Lagoon Jurikhota

Start of climb between streams and lakes to reach the summit (4900 MS). There are the most impressive panoramic view of the Cordillera Real. Then the road is winding and beautiful, with Sistaña lagoon where you can have lunch and rest. The lagoon, the road begins to climb and then goes uphill to the summit (4900 MS). Take the road to the left and down to reach a blue lagoon. Laguna Jurikhota beautiful and secluded, surrounded by snowy mountains. Camp (5 hours).

Day 10

Jurikhota - Lagoon Glaciar - Lagoon Chiarckota Condoriri

Quickly climb between large stones and curves begins to the edge of a frozen lake. Then you see Condoriri Mountain (5770 MS). If you want adventure, you can continue on the way up to reach the peak Austria. Located at the foot of the cairns, Condoriri Mountains National Park. Let's go down a narrow path to reach the Chiarckhota lagoon. Camp (4 hours).

Day 11

Chiarckota - Chacapampa/Zongo - La Paz

Starting early from the lagoon. Take road begins a gentle but constant ascent. Beautiful view from the summit is more than 500 meters. The floor looks sand, crushed rock but by the wind. Gently down shortly before ascending back a step. Then the descent to Zongo Valley and the town of Challapampa (5/6 hours). Drive vehicle to return to La Paz (2 hours). Hotel.

Possibility of staying in the base of Huayna Potosi for those who want to climb this mountain area.
