The Salar de Uyuni or "salt flats" is one of the highlights of a trip to Bolivia and not to be missed as it is a unique place in the world. Desolate roads by the Urus country on the Chilean border. This expedition 4WD address to open wide spaces lovers and those immense landscapes: Salar de Uyuni Salar Coipasa, burials of Río Lauca and finally the Sajama National park; perfect mix of volcanoes, hot springs and geysers, as well as an abundant and varied wildlife. we reach the Southern extremity of the country. Day 1

San Pedro de Atacama - Laguna Colorada

Starting at 09:00 of San Pedro. Leads us to the border post of Hito Cajón, entry point of the region succeed Lipez. In the morning we go to white lake and Laguna Verde, at the foot of volcanoes Juriquer and Licancabur (5960 masl.) to witness a curious phenomenon: the wind picks up and the laguna Verde takes a green emerald hue, we cross the Dali desert (named after the scenery reminiscent of one of his paintings) and to halt the baths of Polques.

Day 2

Laguna Colorada - San Juan

The tours crosses the Desert of Siloli where is the famous Arbol de Piedra (Stone Tree). Then continues along the Lagoons Ramadita, Honda, Charcota, Hedionda where a sulfide (rotten egg)  odor emanates of volcanic activity , sanctuary of the 3 varieties of flamingos, Lagoon Cañapa, Viewpoint of the Volcano Ollague(always active), Salar de Chiguana, San Juan(visit mummies the cemetery 10Bs per person) to conclude the day in Puerto Chuvica (accommodation).

Day 3

San Juan - Salar de Uyuní - Jirira

We go to the Salt Flats de Uyuni (3650m.s.n.m), Incahuasi or Fish Island, consisting of a cactus-covered hill up to 12m high with over a thousand years.In the afternoon, cross the Salt Flats to its northern end, at the foot of Tunupa volcano. Coquesa stop, a small village on the edge of the salar, famous for its mummies Chipayas, before reaching Jirira.

Day 4

Jirira - Salar de Coipasa - Sabaya

In the morning we drive to the Salar de Coipasa, with an area of 2218 km, making it the fifth largest saltwater lake in the world. It is located in the west central part of the Andean highlands at an altitude of 3657 meters We are in the heart of the wild highlands, amid an arid landscape, surrounded by volcanoes that line the Chilean border nearby. We spend the night in Sabaya (basic comfort).

Day 5

Sabaya - Chullpas de Lauca - Sajama

We cross the Urus country ,Nestled in the Sajama National Park in the Bolivian altiplano, a complex of prehistoric burial towers (the chullpas beautiful polychromatic,  are the ancient tombs of Aymaras). We reach Sajama National Park in the afternoon after a 5 to 6-hour journey.Lodging with local host (basic comfort).

Day 6

Sajama - Gueisers - Tomarapi

In the morning visit to the geysers of Walla Keris, this particularly active area offers a unique display of bubbling baths spread over hundreds of square meters at the foot of the volcano Sajama, revered by the local population (about 2 hours on foot) .In in the afternoon we walked to the Huaña Laguna Khota, where flamingoes sometimes come to mingle with wild ducks and geese. Tomarapi wildlife is abundant and varied: alpacas, vicuñas and rheas (similar to an ostrich) if we are lucky and it is very typical. Night at the new shelter "Hostel" (comfort of a 2 star hotel).

Day 7

Tomarapi - Curahuara de Carangas - La Paz

In the morning, we take the dirt road and head for the abandoned village. Opportunity to make a short hike in the rocky chaos before returning to international road.On the way, we stop in the village of Curahuara of Carangas, well known for its rich decoration colonial church (perfectly preserved frescoes). Later we discovered the empty tombs chullpas carangas today after their systematic pillaging. Ends 17:00 to La Paz
